IN THE SAME SENSE
A "Safe Way Forward" Project

The Sacred Scriptures inform us that there are two comings of the Son of God:
the one when He assumed human flesh for our salvation in the womb of a virgin;
the other when He shall come at the end of the world to judge all mankind.
This latter coming is called in Scripture the day of the Lord.
~ Catechism of Trent [Article VII of the Creed]

Death, Judgment, Hell or Heaven: Really?

What we actually believe about life after death will necessarily alter how we approach the decisions that we make a daily basis. On the one hand, the man who is confident that God will reward the adulterer with eternal punishment will think twice about whether he's going to be unfaithful to his wife. On the other hand, the man who thinks that there is a reasonable hope that all men will be saved is likely to adopt a different posture towards his neighbor's wife.

This section will examine the shift in the Catholic Church's teaching regarding the last things with a view to seeing their impact upon the moral lives of clerics and the lay faithful.
