Observation: Prayer Either Forms Or Deforms

Be careful what and how you pray; for prayer is not a neutral activity. The man who prays devoutly, thoughtfully and habitually will come to esteem the truths, desire the goods, and perform the acts that correspond to the content of his prayers.

What is true of private prayer, is even more true of public prayer. The ethos, method and content of a parish's communal prayer will dramatically impact what individual parishioners come to think, believe and do. This reality is testified to negatively by the advance of heresy among the English people after they were compelled to pray the Communion Service created by Thomas Cranmer. The English martyrs bear positive witness to the salutary effects of the Mass properly prayed.

What follows is a presentation of the propers of various similar masses as they had been prayed prior to the Council, and as they are prayed according to Mass of Paul VI. I invite you to carefully read both sets of texts with a view to answering the following question: If I devoutly, thoughtfully and habitually prayed the propers of Novus Ordo Missae would I be led to believe the same truths of faith as someone else who similarly prayed the the propers of the Traditional Latin Mass?
